Not sure if this fits the thread but I heard the poem OCD by Neil Hilborn last week and I haven't been able to get it out of my head since.

'In the beginning, God created the earth, and he looked upon it in his cosmic loneliness.
And God said, "Let Us make living creatures out of mud, so the mud can see what We have done." And God created every living creature that now moveth, and one was man. Mud as man alone could speak. God leaned close to mud as man sat, looked around, and spoke. "What is the purpose of all this?" he asked politely.
"Everything must have a purpose?" asked God.
"Certainly," said man.
"Then I leave it to you to think of one for all this," said God.
And He went away.' ― Kurt Vonnegut, Cat's Cradle

Some of my favorite quotes come from that book. Like this one: “Perhaps, when we remember wars, we should take off our clothes and paint ourselves blue and go on all fours all day long and grunt like pigs. That would surely be more appropriate than noble oratory and shows of flags and well-oiled guns.”

Now I am getting more and more convinced that I should re-read that book. I have read almost all of his books and translated and published his Timequake into Persian, but I hardly remember these quotations. What a shame
Here is my favorite Vonnegut quotation, it is from Mother Night:
"Say what you will about the sweet miracle of unquestioning faith, I consider a capacity for it terrifying and absolutely vile."

My favourite Vonnegut quote is "If you really want to hurt your parents, and you don't have the nerve to be gay, go into the arts." I guess that used to be my signature quote on the old forum
