| "Love is just like a spring breeze; it comes, and when it comes it brings tremendous fragrance, beauty -- but it goes. When it comes it gives you the feeling that it is going to remain forever. And the feeling is so strong that you cannot doubt it, there is no way to doubt it. Under that intense, doubtless certainty, you give promises, the beloved gives promises, not knowing at all that it is a spring breeze. It comes when it comes, it goes when it goes. It is not within your hands. You cannot capture it in your fist. You can feel it when your hand is open, its coolness, but the moment your fist is closed there is no breeze there, there is no coolness there, no fragrance there." Osho PS: a little "up to there" about all the people, TV, magazine etc talking about love but so little doing about it. Beside Andrada, my 15 daughter, I remember a lot about me at her age, about first love etc. I was thinking at her reading this Osho today . | |

| Ah yes Clau! I have some fave words from Osho as well about love... "....Love relates but Love is never a relationship; love is relating. It is always a river, flowing, unending...In a better world, with more meditative people, with a little more enlightenment spread over the earth, people will love, love immensely, but their love will remain a relating not a relationship...." | Thanks Cansu, that was amazing. I am not quite familiar with Osho and his philosophy, but that passage is quite deep. | |

| "When you fall in love, it is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake, and then it subsides. And when it subsides, you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots are become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the desire to mate every second of the day. It is not lying awake at night imagining that he is kissing every part of your body. No... don't blush. I am telling you some truths. For that is just being in love; which any of us can convince ourselves we are. Love itself is what is left over, when being in love has burned away. Doesn't sound very exciting, does it? But it is!" Dr. Iannis, from Louis de Berniéres "Captain Corelli's Mandolin". | |

| oh how i hate deep thoughts
oh, love? it is that something or another, it is springtime! no, it's autumn, i mean, some of us are goths here! it is the apocalypse of the soul and the beginning of a beautiful friendship! well, it is a piece of cake, but remember? the cake is a - - -; and anyway i prefer meat to cake, so make it a steak and i like it raw but tender, still, some people prefer to overdo it till it's bloodless and juiceless and is that still love? love is a cloud and it is an airplane, probably even a bird; it is the piece of dog shit you've just stepped into, because like it or not, you'll be enveloped in its heady perfume for a while now; love conquers all, except maybe most things; and love is the perfect excuse for all those tired clichés metaphors similes that honestly make me wish people never learned to speak because jesus... a river??? what next, "the air we breathe"?
god, Osho pisses me off almost as much as that Coelho fellow

| i personally like alf's quote. it's true. - Quote :
- "Love itself is what is left over, when being in love has burned away"
all too many people mistake "being in love" for "love".

| hungarian actually has different words for romantic love and you know the love that you feel for people and things you don't sexually desire as well as feel very connected to we're not as far along as the old greeks with their agape-philia-eros-storge foursome but it's intrinsically differentiated in our language and in our understanding from an early age on with that in mind, i don't know, my grandparents were still in love after fifty-odd years of marriage, down to the silly tremblings and all, so i'm not sure being in love has to burn away... yes it changes and matures and develops into something different, but why would it burn away? | |

| ok, that is perhaps too drastical, and a big generalization. maybe it's more like being in love i like a big hot fire, and later it changes into a warm, simmering fire with some sparks every now and then. | |

| Love is when you experience the other person's flaws and failures, and not give up on them. | |

| Love is a state of mind, just like anything else. It exists and it doesn't. It's magic and something ordinary. It's everything and nothing. | |
